In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a technology that refers to fertilization of gametes and culturing them in laboratory. In this procedure the egg (oocyte) and the sperms are kept together inadish containing specialized culture media to aid successful fertilization. The embryos are then observed and cultured in the IVF Laboratory for 3 to 5 Days. In this process the most competent and good quality embryos are then selected for transfer at 6 to 8 cell embryo stage or at the Blastocyst stage for Embryo Transfer.

IVF is the most efficient and effective form of Assisted Reproductive Technology, where patients can be treated using their own eggs and sperms. On other hand if required IVF can also involve donation of eggs, sperm or embryos from an unknown donor.

Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), a technique which has proven to be boon for male patients suffering from Sever-Male Factor Infertility. This procedure differs from conventional IVF procedure as it is technically more advanced;where in a single normal sperm is injected directly in oolema (cytoplasm) of the oocyte. An inverted microscope supported with micromanipulators & micro-injectors are utilized in this procedure with 400X magnification for better selection of morphologically normal sperm and ultimately formation of competent embryo to achieve healthy pregnancy.

In ICSI technique the sperm does not have to travel to the egg or penetrate outer covering of the egg (oocyte).

This implies that it can help couples where the male’s sperm cannot reach the egg or if able to reach but somehow cannot fertilize egg.

At Embryonic Fertility and IVF Centre, Pune, Maharashtra we avail the procedure of Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) for patients suffering with extremely low sperm count i.e. Oligozoospermia, poor sperm morphology i.e. Teratozoospermia and Globozoospermia, poor sperm motility i.e. Asthenozoospermia, issues like Erectile Dysfuction, Retrograde ejaculation or Anejaculation, patients with advanced maternal age as their oocyte has thick ZonzPellucida, infertility due to immunologic reasons, Endometriosis Grade III & IV, male with ejaculatory disorder in case of obstructive Azoospermia and some unexplained infertility reasons.

Our fertility experts and embryologists counsel and guide the patient to make the right decision in their benefit and also lower the stress associated with this fertility treatment procedure.

Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI) And Physiologically Selected Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection(PICSI)

Intra-Cytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI) is the procedure in which interference contrast microscopy at high magnification of 6000X is used to observe for presence of nuclear vacuoles in sperm head which is an indicator for increased level of DNA Fragmentation in human spermatozoa. The sperm which is morphological best then utilizes for the purpose of micro-manipulation same as in ICSI procedure.

Physiologically Selected Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (PICS) is the procedure based on the fact the mature sperm head has a specific receptor that allow it to bind to Hyaluronic Acid (HA), the main component of Oocyte Cumulus Complex (OCC), this in contrast to immature sperms do not have this ability to bind HA. It has been scientifically proved that, sperms that bind to HA have completed the spermatogenetic process of remodeling the plasmatic membrane, cytoplasmic extrusion and nuclear maturity.

This eventually results in low level of aneuploidies and miscarriages. These sperms which are bound to HA are then selected and utilized for the purpose of micro-manipulation same as in ICSI procedure.

We at Embryonic Fertility and IVF Centre, Pune, Maharashtra avail the procedure of Intra-Cytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI) and Physiologically selected Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (PICS) for patients suffering with extremely low sperm count i.e. Oligozoospermia, poor sperm morphology i.e. Teratozoospermia, Multiple failed IVF cycles, patients with recurrent miscarriage’s, patients with genetic abnormalities and some unexplained infertility reasons.

As it is very obvious to question why to freeze embryos?

The answer is simple.

Once you have undergone this procedure and feel that your family is complete then you have the full right to decide what to be done with your frozen embryos. You can either keep those frozen embryos for future personal use or just let them subside naturally. The sperm which is morphological best then utilizes for the purpose of micro-manipulation same as in ICSI procedure.

Blastocyst Stage Embryo Transfer also is known as Advanced/Extended Embryo Culture engage in extending the embryo culture cycle of the fertilized embryos for the period of five to six days in the laboratory. Laser Assisted Hatching

Laser Assisted Hatching (LAH) is the process based on the presumption of creating artificial openings (slits or holes) in the zona pellucida (outer covering of embryo) which aid in assisting in-vitro hatching process of embryos. This technique has been shown to increase implantation and pregnancy rates in patients with Advanced Maternal Age, recurrent Implantation Failure and Frozen-Thaw Embryo Transfers as cryopreservation of embryos may lead to zona hardening that may compromise hatching and implantation process.

To Whome Is It Recommended?

We at Embryonic Fertility and IVF Centre recommended Assisted Hatching for the following type of indicators:

  • Women with poor egg quality
  • Patients with Advanced Maternal Age i.e. >35 years
